BREAK IN AT THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF LAGUNA BEACH – Loss at around $8,000

Date:

There was a break in at the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach Canyon Branch over the weekend. The police were called on Monday afternoon and a report was filed. Among the items stolen were 19 Chrome Book Computers, 2 Xboxes with controllers, 1 Laptop, 1 smart TV, and a Blue Ray player. The Club estimates the total loss at about $8,000.

The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach (The Club) serves approximately 275 kids daily and 4,000 kids annually with 50% receiving financial aid, and the materials stolen were vital to daily programs. The property stolen was used for programs like Power Hour or Homework Help, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) Club, coding and 3D printing, and others. The Club was able to purchase these items because of the generosity of our donors throughout various fundraising events and campaigns. 67% of The Club’s annual budget comes from fundraising events, individual donations, and grants.
