Olympica Gymnastics Academy gymnasts competed at the Corona Open 2020 in San Bernadino this month . Several young ladies earned personal best scores, and many came home with the top awards. The Level 3 team took home the second place team award. Makenna Sargent of Laguna Niguel won the gold on beam with a score of 9.100, and teammate Ivory Calderon of Laguna Hills won the silver with a score of 9.050. On bars, Robyn Chavarria (Laguna Hills) earned the bronze medal with a score of 9.050 and on floor exercise, Leah Veselko (Trabuco Canyon) also took bronze with her score score of 8.925.
Level 7 gymnast, Kylie Phillips of Laguna Niguel, earned two bronze medals, scoring a 9.300 on beam and a 37.175 in the All Around in the Junior A division. Teammate Sawyer Zimmerman (Laguna Beach) also won bronze with her 9.400 score on bars. In the Senior A division, Addison Malue (Mission Viejo) earned a 9.400 on vault and took home the silver, and in the Senior B division, Misha Parsons of Dana Point won silver for her beam routine, scoring a 9.450.
Holly Carter of Aliso Viejo took home the top honors in the Level 8 Junior A division. She was the All Around champion with a total score of 37.500. She also earned silver on floor (9.550), bronze on beam (9.425), and bronze on vault (9.325). In the Senior C division, Regan Johnson of San Clemente was the floor champion with a score of 9.475.
Level 9 gymnast, Sarah Quan of Ladera Ranch, was the beam champion in the Senior B division with a score of 9.525. Dana Point’s Dylan Tanner took silver on floor (9.000) in the same division. In the Senior A division, Allison Karner of Laguna Niguel took home the silver on bars for her routine, scoring a 9.325. San Juan Capistrano’s Katya Kousakin earned two bronze medals for her 9.400 vault and 9.150 beam routine. Olympica’s gymnasts are now preparing for the State Championships, which will be held in San Marcos next weekend.
