San Clemente, California… As the County and State enter into Stage 3 of
the Governor’s Roadmap to Resilience, the City of San Clemente will be lifting restrictions at
many of its park facilities.
On Saturday, June 13, all ball-fields, basketball and volleyball courts, and the Baron Von
Willard Dog Park, will reopen with restricted use; and the Ralphs Skate Court will move further
along in the reopening plan.
All ball-fields, basketball courts, and volleyball courts will reopen for
walk up use only. Field permits will not be issued. In accordance with the California Department
of Public Health guidance, “organized activities and sports…are not permitted to the extent that
they require coaches and athletes who are not from the same household or living
units…Members of the same household may engage in such activities and sports together.”
The Baron Von Willard Dog Park will reopen for public use. Dog owners should refrain
from gathering or congregating around picnic areas. Users are advised that there are no
restrooms at this park and should bring water for themselves and their dogs. Frequent hand
washing and sanitizing is encouraged before and after visiting the dog park.
The Ralphs Skate Court will no longer require advanced registration and will remain
open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Skateboarders and their families are required to follow physical
distancing standards and refrain from gathering in large groups who are not from the same
household. Pursuant to San Clemente Municipal Code § 10.64.050, all pads are required to
use the skate park – elbow, knee, and helmet.
All park and field users must follow physical distancing, hand-washing, and public
health guidelines.
Modified operations are subject to change and will be adjusted as Federal,
State and Local orders change.
