PACIFIC SYMPHONY AND HOAG HOSPITAL ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP AS HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATION BECOMES PRESENTING SPONSOR
FOR SYMPHONY’S SUMMER FESTIVAL 2010 IN IRVINE
Orange County, Calif.——Pacific Symphony and Hoag Hospital have entered into a new partnership—with the hospital becoming the new presenting sponsor for the Symphony’s Summer Festival 2010, which includes five concerts taking place July 4-Sept. 11.
The partnership represents Hoag Hospital’s commitment to broadening its outreach further south in Orange County. Hoag recently announced the inclusion of a new facility in Irvine, where the Symphony’s summer home—Verizon Wireless Amphitheater—is located. The new facility is part of an evolution for Hoag from a single entity hospital (in Newport Beach) to a health network. The partnership also represents an opportunity for the organizations to support two important causes: healthcare and the value of music. The Symphony is proud to team up with the county’s top hospital as the two entities share a desire to provide first-rate quality care.
“While it might appear on the surface like an unusual partnership, it actually is a perfect fit—we are two organizations that share a passion for quality of life and we both strive for excellence in what we do,” says the Symphony’s President John Forsyte. “Hoag is a tremendous community partner.”
“Hoag Hospital is also pleased to join efforts with the Pacific Symphony to communicate the value of music to a healthy and vibrant community,” says Richard Afable, M.D., Hoag’s president and CEO. “Hoag is dedicated to enriching the lives of Orange County residents and this opportunity is a perfect opportunity to do just that.”
For the Symphony, the partnership helps further its quest to spread the message that “music heals.” The Symphony first joined forces with the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure last September to raise awareness about the organization’s work with breast cancer survivors. The celebratory occasion proved to be one of the best-attended summer concerts for the orchestra. The new relationship with Hoag allows for the message to continue through another summer season.
It is also a great example of creative initiatives, as it has become more necessary for organizations of any kind to break out of the box of traditional strategic thinking and find partnerships and new ways to promote causes.

A National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award endorses Hoag as Orange County’s most preferred hospital based on overall quality of health care services and places Hoag in the top five percent of hospitals nationwide. And in a local newspaper survey, Orange County residents have named Hoag the county’s top hospital for 14 consecutive years.
