Newt Seal preparing for the Lodge’s Wednesday Night Bingo
The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge has recently donated $2,260 to local youth groups and an individual youth.
The Carl Hankey Elementary School Destination ImagiNation team, which won first place in California, will use the Elks donation to defray travel costs for the international competition in Tennessee. The Mission Viejo High School Instrumental Music Boosters (marching band, orchestra, color guard, various music ensembles, etc.) will use the Elks donation to defray travel costs for music competitions throughout the US and Canada. Eagle Scout candidate Henry de Koeyer will use the Elks donation to help pay for his landscaping project (sprinkler system and small garden) at the Mission Viejo dePortola Elementary School. Conrad Zimmer will use the Elks donation to help defray travel costs for drum and bugle competitions throughout the USA. The Elks also provided the donation for the rental of Lodge space for an Eagle Scout dinner.
Long time Elks Lodge Treasurer and Bingo Manager Newt Seal said, “We are grateful to the members of the public that play bingo at the Lodge on Wednesday evenings which generates the funds that we donate to local groups and individuals as well as to Elks state and national programs”. Exalted Ruler Pat Martino added, “In these challenging economic times, the Elk’s Lodge is proud to provide some financial support to our community’s outstanding youth.”
The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Elks Lodge #2444 is one of ten lodges in the Orange Coast District of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) whose headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. The BPOE is a charitable organization with a 142 year history of giving, “Elks Care, Elks Share.”
