Cox Announces 2021/2022 Board Chair

Date:

The California Cable & Telecommunications Association (CCTA) announced during its Winter Board Meeting that Sam Attisha, senior vice president and region manager for Cox Communications’ California operations, will serve as the 2021/2022 board chair, providing leadership as the association champions innovative approaches to how Californians live, work and connect.

Attisha, who began his role as board chair today, will serve a two-year term.

“Sam’s wealth of experience in the industry and his commitment to communities throughout California will be an asset as our board and organization continue to reshape how our industry innovates and supports our state’s future,” said Carolyn McIntyre, president of CCTA. “He’s been an active and engaged member of our association for years, and we’re thrilled to have him take on this new role.”

Attisha, who has been with Cox for 13 years, leads employees and day-to-day operations for the company’s California region. He also co-chairs Cox’s California Diversity Council, which supports inclusion,  diversity and equity in the company and community. Attisha grew up in El Cajon, Calif. in San Diego County. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of San Diego, and an MBA from California State University, Sacramento.

“Having grown up in San Diego in an immigrant household, I have an appreciation and understanding of the awesome diversity of our state,” Attisha said. “I’m excited to serve as CCTA’s new board chair and help continue the great work our board and association do every day to help our state and its communities thrive.”

California Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins stated: “Under Sam’s leadership, Cox Communications has been a leading corporate citizen in San Diego for many years and they stepped up even more during the pandemic to get technology into the homes of students for distance learning and supported businesses transitioning their employees to working from home. With that said, we do have much more work to do to increase connectivity so all kids can access critical technology. I know with Sam as Chair of CCTA that there will be an industry-driving force for solutions. I look forward to having Sam’s leadership and understanding of our San Diego region at the helm of CCTA’s board this year.”

In addition to CCTA, Attisha currently serves on the board of directors for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, where he is also part of the management council.  He is a board member of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, serves on the Corporate Council for Make-A-Wish San Diego, and is on the board of directors for Monarch School, which educates K-12 homeless students in San Diego.
