WHAT: Panel Discussion on Impending State Budget Crisis
WHO: Saddleback College hosts the event sponsored by the Legislative Alliance of Southern Orange County (LASOC). LASOC is a coalition of local business organizations, including the South County Regional Chambers of Commerce, committed to advocating on behalf of businesses throughout southern Orange County.
Panelists slated to appear include Assemblywoman Diane Harkey (73rd District, member of the Assembly Committee on Budget), Don Sedgwick (Trustee, Saddleback Valley Unified School District) and Meredith Michaels (Vice Chancellor, Budget, UC Irvine)

WHY: At midnight June 16, the state legislature officially missed its constitutional deadline to pass a state budget – again.
There are rumors it may take MONTHS for this year’s budget to be passed. This will have reverberations throughout the state, including our local schools. The South Orange County Regional Chambers of Commerce and other members of LASOC are committed to ensuring a strong and highly skilled workforce through education. This is an issue we will continue to monitor and ensure our members are kept informed moving forward.
