***10/6 Walk to School Day***
International Walk to School Day is on Wednesday, October 6th this year. Malcom Elementary students will join millions of adults and children around the world to raise awareness of pedestrian safety issues by walking to school TOGETHER on October 6th. Last year, we had many families tell us they were pleasantly surprised by how easy the walk was and how fun it was as walkers converged as they neared the school. Walking to school is a win – win – win: it is good for your health, reduces traffic and pollution and provides positive time to share with family and friends.
***10/29 Mariners Day at John Malcom Elementary School***
Mariners Day is a new celebration at Malcom Elementary this year! A “Mariner” is someone who navigates the seas in a sailing vessel and it is also the name of the school theme: Malcom Mariners. Students will come dressed as any kind of mariner on Friday, October 29th – old time or modern day, military or recreational, famous or not so famous (ie. Yachtsmen, Marines, Sailors, Vikings, Buccaneers, Coast Guard…or they could choose to be a famous mariner, such as Christopher Columbus, Popeye or Gilligan!).
