The CARE Foundation’s 2010 Summit to Address Alternative Energy
The CARE Foundation will be hosting their 2010 Alternative Energy Summit, presented by Southern California Edison, on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Facility. This extraordinary event is expected draw over 100 members of the community, including students from Capistrano Unified School District to discuss alternative energy and power issues with a focus on near term solutions. Students who attend this event will receive a Congressional Certificate from Congressman Ken Calvert’s office for their participation.
As part of their Technology Initiative, the CARE Foundation hopes to inspire students to learn more about science and technology through various events focused on these industries. Featured speakers from the CARE Foundation and Southern California Edison will discuss the current energy crisis and the future of nuclear energy as a solution to this crisis. Dr. Jack Brouwer, Associate Director of the Advanced Power and Energy Program (APEP) and Adjunct Associate Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Irvine will also be giving an address. Breakout session topics will also include discussions on wind and solar power and recent trends in those industries. This is event is by private invitation only and the cost is $98 per attendee.
