Administration
• There will be no school all of next week due to Fall Recess. Classes will resume the following Monday, November 29 with a regular 0-6 schedule and dismissal at 2:42 pm. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday!
• Seniors applying to Cal State or UC schools should be completing their applications now. Submit as soon as possible and avoid any Internet server problems! The final deadline is November 30, NO EXCEPTIONS! Don’t wait until the last minute! (Links: UC application and Cal State application.)
• Need money for college? If you plan to attend any California college (2 year, 4 year, trade/technical, vocational), apply for a Cal Grant. Click here for more information. The final deadline is March 2, 2011 but you should begin now—Aliso Niguel does NOT submit GPA’s electronically so you must complete and mail in the paper application. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will also be available online beginning January 1, 2011.
• PTSA scholarships are almost available! Last spring, we awarded $6,500 to graduating seniors and this year it could be you! To be eligible for these and our upcoming Leadership and Volunteer Awards, you must be a student member of the PTSA for just $6. Activities
• Our annual fall Dodgeball Tournament will be taking place all this week in the Pit during lunch. Stop by and support your friends as they take each other on in our first intramural, single elimination competition of the year!
• Your 2010 USA national champion ANHS Dance Team presents “Lights, Camera, Dance: A Taste of Hollywood!” This fall concert will be in the ANHS theater on November 17, 18, and 19 at 7:00 pm and feature performances by Dance Appreciation, Drill Team, Varsity Song, and more! Tickets are on sale now for just $10 and can be purchased from a Dance Team member or at the door for the November 17 showing, and online for the November 18 and 19 showings.
Fundraisers
• Aliso Niguel Baseball is currently selling Christmas trees for our annual fundraiser! One aspect of this is to donate trees to military families at Camp Pendleton and, over the past 5 years, our program has donated over 500 trees to these families. We hope to donate another 100 this year. If you are interested in purchasing or donating a Christmas tree this year, please print and complete this sales form. All orders and payment must be received by Wednesday, November 17! Thank you for your support!
• Now you can earn money for your ANHS PTSA while you grocery shop! To give back to this group that gives to your student:
1) Renew your Ralphs Community Contributions designation and select “ANHS PTSA” as your new group.
2) Sign in to www.ralphs.com, click “enroll” at the bottom of the Community Contributions page, select our group, and click “save”.
3) Enroll in eScrip at www.escrip.com and designate ANHS PTSA as one of your groups to benefit us each time you shop at Vons and other merchants.
