CANYON VISTA HONOR CHOIR AUDITIONS:
The Capistrano Unified School District 2011 5th Grade Honor Choir auditions will begin the first week of January. All current 5th grade choir members are eligible. Auditions will be held during music time or at recess when possible. Six Wednesday evening rehearsals will be required from January 26th through March 2nd from 6:00 – 7:45 p.m. at Bergeson School in Laguna Niguel. The Honor Choir concert will follow at Coast Hills Church on Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. Parent permission slips are required for audition.
“TOYS FOR TOTS” DRIVE:
We are currently hosting a “Toys for Tots” drive! Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to the front office and drop it in one of our bins. Help us make a child’s holiday a little brighter! Bins will be picked up on Friday, December 17th.
BOOK FAIR UPDATE:
We would like to extend a HUGE “Thank You” to Book Fair Chairman Joanie Triestman and her wonderful army of volunteers for putting on another successful book fair! Whether you made cookies for the bake sale, worked the cash register, assisted students with their purchases or helped set up or tear down, your time and energy is greatly appreciated by ALL of us!
CV COMPUTER LAB:
Our computer lab will be shut down all next week (December 13-17). Thanks to our wonderful PTA and very generous parents, we will have a brand new computer lab when our students return in January!! Thank you so much for your support during our fundraisers to upgrade our lab! Make sure you stop in and see the results of your hard work and efforts!
OPPORTUNITIES TO GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!
This time of the year is so busy, you don’t have time to cook do you? Of course not! So Tuesday, December 14th, head over to Chipotle and Canyon Vista will get 50% of the proceeds! Don’t forget to bring your flyer! Also, Wednesday, December 15th and Thursday, December 16th, Powell’s Sweet Shoppe and Rubio’s will be donating 20% of their proceeds with your order. Rubio’s offer is good from 3 p.m. until close while Powell’s will accept your flyer all day! Make life easy on yourself and support our PTA at the same time! Check your child’s backpack for flyers for each of these events!

Would you enjoy a night to yourself and want the peace of mind that your children are having fun too? The YMCA is offering a parent’s night out for the month of December that will include dinner, friends, crafts, games, and a late night movie!
Date: December 10, 2010
Time: 6-10:30PM
Price: $35/child or $45/ family
(Pay with cash or check at time of drop-off)
Place: Canyon Vista YMCA
Dinner includes: pizza, carrot sticks, juice, and peaches. Dessert will be an Oreo craft.
Bring: PJ’s (please wear them if possible), toy from home, pillow, blanket, and extra snacks just in case of a snack attack! (All items are optional and YMCA is not responsible for loss of any items).
Staff a thoroughly trained and certified in CPR and 1st aid.
