Aliso Viejo has gone greener by launching its Green City Initiative website in an effort to educate residents about the city’s new initiative that will benefit the environment and community as a whole.
The website at http://cityofalisoviejo.com/greeninitiative/ is a work in progress and will be updated with information about energy, water, vehicles, transportation, land use, recycling and more as the initiative takes shape. The website launch follows the first of several public workshops that was held Dec. 9 at the Aliso Viejo Conference Center designed to provide the city with a framework for reducing Aliso Viejo’s carbon footprint.
The Aliso Viejo Green City Initiative will determine greenhouse gas emissions for existing municipal, residential and non-residential sectors in the city; will set reduction targets; will develop goals, policies and measures to decrease greenhouse gas emissions within the city; and will formulate strategies for adapting to climate change.
The public’s involvement in the Aliso Viejo Green City Initiative is essential to making Aliso Viejo “greener” and benefiting the community as a whole.
The next workshop on Feb. 3 will focus on energy and water.
