The city is seeking local youth organizations such as school, scout, sport and other groups that are interested in the opportunity to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of City Council meetings.
Since the beginning of 2010, different youth organizations have been starting each City Council meeting by leading the council and members of the public in the Pledge of Allegiance. The young boys and girls are introduced, receive city pins and a group photo is taken that is posted on the city’s website.
The City Council meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month in the Council Chambers at City Hall, which is located at 12 Journey. Organizations interested in leading the pledge should contact Kelly Tokarski, the city’s Public Information Consultant, at 949-395-4448 or ktokarski@cityofalisoviejo.com.
Applications available for grant program
The city is now accepting applications for its annual Community Assistance Grant Program, which benefits in part organizations that service Aliso Viejo residents. Applications will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. March 31.
Each year the city contributes partial funding for selected community service programs and activities by not-for-profit organizations that provide valuable services to the community. The City Council is expected to consider and approve the requests in May or June.
Community Assistance Grant Funding applications – along with a funding calendar and eligibility information – are available on the city’s website at www.cityofalisoviejo.com. Applications are also available at City Hall, 12 Journey, Suite 100.
