Community groups and organizations can now use the Aliso Viejo Conference Center to host meetings once per month at no cost, under a plan the City Council approved this month. The council’s move is part of an effort to help local groups find a cost-effective location for their meetings.
The City Council on Jan. 5 adopted a Conference Center Use Policy that essential allows community groups to use the facility, located at 31 Santa Barbara, for meetings one time per month at no cost to the community groups. For each additional meeting during the same month, the community group only has to pay for the Conference Center operator’s direct out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. set-up and tear down of tables, chairs and equipment).
Community groups are defined as non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, athletic leagues and schools that are located and based in Aliso Viejo. Groups such as Aliso Viejo Little League, AYSO, Girls Softball, Boy and Girl Scouts and others fall into the “community group” category. Government agencies serving at least a portion of the city are also considered community groups for the purposes of using the facility.
