Shalom,
Dear Friends,
This week’s Torah portion describes in vivid detail the most momentous occurrence in Jewish history – the giving of the The Ten Commandments at Mt Sinai. What makes it momentous today is that despite the fact that the actual event took place over 3,300 years ago, these same Commandments remain the bedrock of our modern day society and serve as an objective code of ethics and morals that are as relevant and vital today as ever before.
Simply put, societies can’t survive without adhering to this code. It is a truth that transcends the passage of time. So, despite living in the most technologically advanced period in history where things change so fast, the Torah reminds us that some things don’t change at all!
Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom!
