On February 10th, 2011, over 200 parents, club members, executive board members and staff attended the annual Awards Night ceremony for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach. Club members and their families dressed to impress as they attended the awards ceremony “A Night with the Stars”, held in the beautiful Artists’ Theater at Laguna Beach High School. Over 75 youth were recognized for the hard work, dedication and positive attitude they have demonstrated over the past year as “Members of the Month” for the TLC and Main Branch Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach.
The Youth of the Year awards are the most prestigious and are awarded to three individuals who have demonstrated strong moral character, community service involvement, and leadership and mentoring skills over the course of the 2010 year. This year’s Youth of the Year recipients were especially deserving because they were years in the making. This year’s recipients were: Autumn McQuaid for Main Branch and Shiloah Hunter for TLC Branch. The Teen Youth of the Year award was presented to Staci Pellecchia. All three will go on to compete against youth from local Boys & Girls Club branches at the Orange County Youth Year Awards Ceremony on March 18th, held in Irvine, Ca.
Other honorees included Parent of the Year Trigg Garner and Volunteer of the Year Gila Wdowinski for dedicating their time to assist with club-wide events and mentor youth. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach would like to thank the National Charity League, Hobie Surf Shop, Laguna Surf & Sport and Wahoos for their generous contributions and support for the 2011 Awards Night.
The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach Main Branch offers an after-school enrichment program Monday through Friday from 1:30 pm to 7pm. This program includes a variety of engaging and educational activities for children in grades K-12. The annual membership fee is $150 and the monthly fee is $55.
