Vocational Visions Enchanted Evening Fundraiser Nets Over $95,000 and Honors the City of Mission Viejo
Irvine, Calif. – Proceeds from Vocational Visions’ annual Enchanted Evening fundraising event are estimated at over
$95,000.
The colorful and tropical event “An Enchanted Evening…in Key West” was held on April 16 at the Irvine
Marriott and attended by 350 guests.
The organization honored The City of Mission Viejo with their Employer of the
Year award.
Over 150 silent auction items were featured during the cocktail hour reception including artwork by Vocational
Visions clients. Vocational Visions supporter Peter Neptune served as both emcee and auctioneer and co-chairs
were community leaders Donna Haskell, Nancy Livingston and Linda Baird.
Mission Viejo Council Member Trish Kelley and City Manager Dennis Wilberg were on hand to receive the 2011
Employer of the Year Award presented to the City of Mission Viejo for their longtime commitment of providing
employment opportunities and other support to Vocational Visions and their participants.
A highlight of the evening included lively and heartwarming dance performances by Vocational Visions clients to
“Barometer Soup” and “Day-O.”
The ballroom was filled with tiki huts, surf boards and several hand painted island themed art renditions. Live
musical entertainment was provided throughout the evening by Joe Rathburn’s Island Band.
Live auction highlights included an at-home five course gourmet dinners for eight by Alex Neptune with wine pairings
from master sommelier Peter Neptune which raised $2600. A two-night stay at the Willard Hotel’s JFK “Oval” suite
with tour of the U.S. Supreme Court raised $3500 and a Lakers suite at Staples Center brought in $2600. An
opportunity drawing featuring a two-night getaway to the Montage Resort & Spa was won by Darci Carlson.
Vocational Visions has provided comprehensive vocational, economic and social services to Orange County adults with disabilities since 1974.
Based in Mission Viejo, Calif., the nonprofit organization creates possibilities for men and women with disabilities by providing on and off-site job opportunities, a variety of social programs and rehabilitation and medical assistance as needed.
Vocational Visions serves over 490 individuals annually who have a wide range of developmental and other disabilities.
