THANK YOU!
Our recent Good Friday Prayer Breakfast was a stellar success, Bishop Bennett shared deeply from his heart and those participating experienced an eloquent and humble story of the cross in Bishop Bennett’s, and our, lives. The day would not have been possible without the dedicated help, energy and love of our Music Ministry Team of: Paul Nguyen, Julia Fairley, Roberto Gomez , Ray Genovese, Eric Byak, Don Erikson & Ruth White. Our gratitude as well goes to our 2011 Prayer Breakfast Coordinator Jackie Kleinhammes and her team of selfless volunteers:, Andrea Ekstrom-Heckler, Lisa Garner, Lori Hawkins, Anne Jordan, Jean Kerins, Aime Morrison, Kerry Wagner, Georgina Yacap, Kristina Burkhardt, Sandy Goldberg, Diane Pagani and Linda Johnson. In addition our gratitude is extended to Marc Jordan, Betty O’Neil, Susie Hays, Gregg Heckler, Jim Jeter. We also thank our loyal and new sponsors/patrons: Platinum: Farmers & Merchants Bank Gold: Eisenbart & Sons; Mary O’Toole, MD & Bill Phillips Silver: St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church; The Matteson Family; Employees of St. Joseph Hospital; Pacific View Memorial Park Cemetery Emerald: Mission OB/GYN Medical Group, Inc. Thank you as well to our HAVEN Youth who offered their time and service so that the Breakfast could be trouble-free and enlightening for the almost 400 people in attendance.

And even MORE Thank YOU’s!!!

Gratitude…even if delayed, should always be extended to those who have sacrificed so others could benefit. Such was the case with our Easter Weekend and Holy Week experiences. Our gratitude is extended to Ryan Spicer and his Maintenance Ministry Teams who kept our home spotless throughout the marathon. In the same way our new Eucharistic Ministry Team of Jim Long, Kelly Snyder and Don Watson oversaw the frequent distribution of Eucharist for the thousands of people who passed through our doors on Easter Sunday. Shawn Wehan and his RCIA Team did a superb job of preparing our Candidates and Catechumens who were welcomed into the Catholic Church on Holy Saturday evening and our Lectors made Sacred Scripture delightful to the ear. Hospitality under the direction of Thomas Crispell were friendly and welcoming…and kept everybody organized and helped to restore tidiness following each Mass…Music Ministry under Paul Nguyen’s oversight lifted our souls and hearts to new heights…THANKS! The beautiful color and artistic touches throughout the Grand Hall were provided with the able assistance of John Brady, Marc Jordan, Brian Brassil, Daniel Chiu, Ben Chiu, TJ Yacap along with ‘Sandy’ and ‘Tim’…and if you enjoyed one of the 700 outdoor chairs, they were set up thanks to First Saturday Men’s Fellowship! Our HAVEN Youth Leaders who accented the post-Communion song with their banners now know what is like to spend an entire Sunday morning at ALL the Masses…Thank You HAVEN Youth Leaders! To everyone who donated a lily or potted plant….well, you can see the difference your contribution made….thank you! As well, thanks to all who helped to keep our home tidy and presentable by lending a hand whenever you could….we SHONE on Easter Sunday thanks to each of you…THANK YOU!

Our SPRING Sacramental Prep Session approaches…
A reminder, our parish policy is that any family seeking the Sacrament of Baptism, First Reconciliation or First Eucharist, Marriage, needs to have been a REGISTERED PARISHIONER for a minimum of THREE MONTHS prior to the setting of any Sacramental dates. (Thus, someone registering today, may call in three months to begin the process of scheduling a date….not register and schedule at the same time.)

Our next Sacramental Preparation Session for families of children desiring First Reconciliation and First Eucharist here at Corpus Christi is scheduled for Saturday, May 14th at 2:30 p.m., concluding with the 5:00 p.m. Mass. Please note that participation at one of our quarterly Sacramental Prep Sessions prior to scheduling a First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is a parish requirement. You will receive your Sacramental Registration Form at the conclusion of the session. This policy is binding for ALL families, both those who have multiple children (who may have already received one or more First Eucharists, fresh attendance at the Sacramental Prep for each child is necessary) and for those approaching the Sacraments for the first time. To ensure eligibility and adequate supplies, please call Susie Hays at 949-389-9008.

It is important to note that these Sacramental Preparation Sessions augment but DO NOT replace our parish policy of parents teaching their own children the essentials of our faith and introducing their own children to the person of Jesus Christ. These Prep Sessions are final steps to ensure that parental education has indeed been happening.

Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!
Networking and Employment Transition Support Ministry

Even though it sometimes seems like it is a lonely one lane highway, your Job Search is really a two way street. While you are out there persistently looking for a job, employers are tirelessly looking for you. The challenge is how to be at the right place, at the right time, with right qualities. If only there was an inside track. Wouldn’t it be great if you could see it from the hiring manager’s perspective, so you could meet them where they are and put your best foot forward? Well, you are in luck! At the May NETS meeting you will have an opportunity to attend a round table discussion with CEO’s and Managers who will be addressing the current job market and specifically what companies are seeking. If you want the inside scoop, come join us this Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Please RSVP by contacting Ed Jordan at ejordan@noletspirits.com or 949-389-1715.

‘La Cena’ (Lah…Chain…Ahhhh) is coming back!!!
Last year’s Summertime mega-hit, ‘La Cena’ is coming on Saturday, July 16th and again on Saturday, August 6h. Each evening will commence following the 5:00 p.m. Mass. Pre-paid advance reservations will be required but in a nod to everyone’s tightened budgets the tiered pricing for each evening will again be only $25 per adult (15 and up), $15 for children (10-14) and only $10 for wee-ones (2-10), infants under 2 are free. This being a fund-raiser we are of course looking for whatever donations of food, beverage or supplies we can obtain that will cut down on our initial costs. If you know of any generous suppliers of quality sausage, pasta, bread, salad fixings or good vino…please make contact with either Lisa Aguirre (lisa-a@cox.net) or Georgina Yacap (gyacap@cox.net.) Thanks….or as they might say in Italy…. Ringraziarla molto!

Corpus Christi’s 2011 Youth Leadership Summit will be held August 8-12 at the University of California at Irvine campus (UCI). High school students, who have been selected as Corpus Christi Youth leaders, will spend the week learning and practicing skills such as small group facilitation, peer helping, large group presenting and more while exploring their faith and talents. They will also participate in assorted teambuilding activities, The Youth Leadership Summit is just the beginning though, as Youth Leaders will serve our parish throughout the year as volunteers in our JAMS middle school youth ministry, in HAVEN high school youth ministry, at parish special events and more. while continuing to build their leadership skills. The cost for each youth to attend the summit is $400.00 inclusive of lodging, food, activities, and supplies. Can you help sponsor/partially sponsor one of our youth? If so, please send your check to Fr. Fred…. THANK YOU for your support of today’s and tomorrow’s youthful leaders!

Calling all 1st through 5th grade Corpus Christi boys and their families!!!

Cub Scout Pack 700 is a ministry chartered by Corpus Christi and is currently seeking boys who want to have some fun and learn something too!!! Our Pack is comprised of “Dens” where same-aged boys meet regularly for fun activities designed to encourage “do-your-best” behavior at home and in the community. At our regular monthly Pack meetings all the “dens” come together to recognize the accomplishments made during that month. While having fun the boys don’t even realize that they are learning about such things as citizenship, leadership, showmanship, outdoor skills, physical fitness and their duty to God. Please come meet some of Pack 700 scouts and families on May 22nd. We will showcase some of our activities that we offer and answer any of your questions. This is a great way to get connected to our Corpus Christi community. For more information on joining Pack 700 please contact Frances Outhwaite 949-933-9904, fouthwaite@gmail.com or Lisa Miller-Strunk 949-683-4453 shellmaker@sbcglobal.net

A ‘Start of Summer’ invitation to our collegian/university/community college youth….
You may recall back in December we hosted our first outreach to Corpus Christi Collegian/University youth…with great success. It was decided at that gathering that we would not only send weekly e-mails to all Collegian/University youth desiring the Bulletin and Worship Aids but also have a ‘Start-Of-Summer’ Beach event and an ‘End-Of-Summer’ Mass and Brunch. We are happy to share that any/all of our Corpus Christi Collegian/University/Community College Youth are invited to a lazy evening overlooking The Strand (near the Ritz Carlton) on Sunday, June 12th. Sign-up/RSVP forms are available on the Concierge Shelves; please return them, along with a modest $10 deposit to lock in a spot to gather with your friends and our parish outreach team of Lisa Aguirre, Ryan Hays and FKB. The beach is calling….what a perfect way to end your quarter/semester and segue to summer!

In preparation for our annual Ministry Fair (June 11th-12th) just a reminder that it is our policy at Corpus Christi that every volunteer, in every Ministry (no exceptions) be fingerprinted through the Diocese of Orange and participate in an online Safe Environment Training before you can become active in ministry work. Please allow several weeks for the clearance and process to be completed. Note that fingerprint information is not shared between different organizations, if you have been fingerprinted for work, school, scouts, sports, etc. you will need to be printed again for the Diocese of Orange. The parish reimburses every volunteer for the cost of fingerprinting. Please contact our Safe Environment Coordinator at safeenvironment@corpuschristialisoviejo.org to begin the process. Thank you for honoring our policy.
