TURTLE REEF GRAND OPENING: Guests can come celebrate with the sea turtles on June 18 at SeaWorld for the opening of Turtle Reef. The attraction will be the largest exhibit in the world dedicated to sea turtles, will inform guests on how trash and pollution can affect the species and will highlight threatened and endangered sea turtles. Turtles in the attraction’s nearly 300,000-gallon aquarium will include adults, some more than 50 years old, as well as turtles that hatched at the marine-life park in October 2009. In addition to the turtles, Turtle Reef will feature thousands of tropical fish and a large underwater viewing window. Interactive elements such as a gaming wall and touch screen map will immerse guests and educate them on how SeaWorld cares for sea turtles. A new ride, Riptide Rescue, is perfect for “tweens,” who can spin in boats on their own rescue mission.
THE KICKOFF OF SUMMER NIGHTS: SeaWorld stays open late so guests have more time to enjoy all their SeaWorld favorites, plus special nighttime entertainment! This year’s kickoff of Summer Nights marks the 12th anniversary of the park’s first-ever adventure ride, Shipwreck Rapids. Summer Nights also features “Shamu Rocks,” an energetic musical journey around the world; “Sea Lions Tonite,” a comedy show starring Clyde and Seamore; and SeaWorld’s “Into the Blue” fireworks show that lights up the sky to the orchestral soundtrack of the “Blue Horizons” show. Summer Nights continues weekends through June 12, then nightly June 18–Aug. 28 and Sept. 3–5. Now, with so much to see and do at SeaWorld this summer there’s never been a better time to visit. And, the park is offering a Twilight Ticket giving guests a single-day park admission for $39.99 when arriving after 3 p.m. during Club Atlantis nights. CLUB ATLANTIS: This summer teens can dance the night away at Club Atlantis, Presented by Pepsi, located adjacent to SeaWorld’s Journey To Atlantis water coaster! Guests can join CW6 and Channel 933 Thursday and Friday nights June 23 through Aug. 12. The area will feature music from Channel 933’s DJ Marc Thrasher and will include lights and videos — giving teens a fun and safe atmosphere to spend their summer with friends. There will also be performances by local dance team, Culture Shock, and it is all included with park admission. For more information visit SeaWorld’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/seaworldsandiego.
