American Red Cross class is specifically designed for young children
LEGOLAND® Water Park is all about interaction, education, safety and fun so what better place for your child to learn about water safety this summer. For the first time, LEGOLAND Water Park is offering WHALE Tales, an American Red Cross water safety program geared towards young children.
WHALE Tales (Water Habits Are Learned Early), was created by the American Red Cross to teach children water safety guidelines for staying safe and having fun while in close contact with water. The four-day course is taught by LEGOLAND Water Park certified lifeguards and covers basic water safety lessons including: Too Much Sun is No Fun; Be Cool, Follow the Rules – the reasons behind water safety rules; Look Before You Leap – choose safe places to swim and dive; Swim With a Buddy; Reach or Throw, Don’t Go – safe ways to rescue a swimmer in trouble; Just Pack It, Wear Your Jacket – the importance of wearing a life jacket; and much more. Each lesson is taught in the Water Park and reinforced with fun and memorable learning activities including games, DVD instruction and play time.
“One of the coolest things about LEGOLAND Water Park is our interaction with the kids and seeing them enjoy themselves in such a safe environment,” states Rochelle Hammonds, LEGOLAND Water Park Supervisor. “The safety of our guests is our number one priority and now we can share some of our expertise with the kids in a really fun learning environment.”
The WHALE Tales water safety course is offered at LEGOLAND Water Park Monday through Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Sessions are available June 6-9; June 13-16; and June 20-23. The cost is $40 per child with their LEGOLAND California Resort Passport; adult chaperones are free with their LEGOLAND California Resort Passports. Non-Pass Members may purchase a WHALE Tales special five-day weekday admission, plus free parking, to LEGOLAND® California, SEA LIFE™ Aquarium and LEGOLAND Water Park during the week of the WHALE Tales program: adult chaperones, $89; child participants, $119. Splash Zoo, a brand new area for toddlers, is now open inside LEGOLAND® Water Park – just in time to kick off some splashy, summer fun! The DUPLO® Zoo themed area, located next to DUPLO Splash Safari and Kid Creek, features giant DUPLO Zoo animals – including a lion, a giraffe and a zebra – plus interactive spray pads, fountains and a teeter totter, all geared specifically for guests ages 1 to 3. LEGOLAND Water Park is the world’s first LEGO themed Water Park and opened last summer. In addition to Splash Zoo, it includes 7 slides, the Build-A-Raft River, Imagination Station and DUPLO Splash Safari. LEGOLAND Water Park is open seven days a week now through Sept. 5. LEGOLAND Water Park is a $12 upgrade from LEGOLAND California tickets and is included in the price of Resort and Water Park Hopper tickets.
