The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.) continues to grow its presence in South Orange County as the Mission Viejo Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge #2444 proudly initiated 22 new members into its ranks.
This special ceremony marks not only a milestone for the Lodge, but also a continuation of a long-standing tradition rooted in charity, patriotism, and community service. Friends, family, and Lodge members gathered to celebrate the newest Elks as they took part in a meaningful initiation that symbolizes their commitment to giving back.
Founded in 1868, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has grown into one of the largest fraternal organizations in the United States, with nearly a million members and more than 1,800 Lodges nationwide. Originally established as a social club, the organization quickly evolved into a force for good, embracing a mission centered on charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity.
Today, Elks Lodges across the country are known for their deep involvement in local communities—supporting veterans, sponsoring youth programs, providing scholarships, hosting charitable events, and offering aid to those in need. The Elks National Foundation alone has contributed millions of dollars annually to communities through grants and programs.
Locally, Mission Viejo Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge #2444 exemplifies this mission through its active support of veterans, community outreach initiatives, youth engagement programs, and charitable giving. From organizing events like Wreaths Across America ceremonies and toy drives to hosting family-friendly activities and fundraisers, the Lodge remains a vital part of the Mission Viejo community.
“The addition of these 22 new members strengthens our ability to serve,” said a Lodge representative. “Each new Elk brings fresh energy, ideas, and a shared commitment to making a difference.”
As these new members begin their journey as Elks, they join a network of individuals dedicated to improving lives and uplifting their communities—one act of kindness at a time.
The Mission Viejo-Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge #2444 is celebrating over 53 years of service to Saddleback Valley Communities. It is one of 8 lodges in the Orange Coast District of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) whose headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. The BPOE is a charitable organization with a 158-year history of giving. For information regarding Elks programs or Elks membership, call 949 830-3557
