Saddleback College Community Education and Performing Arts have come together to form a new children’s production company, called Mainstage Kids, featuring young actors ages 8-16. They are proud to announce their first production of Seussical Jr. will take place on the McKinney Theatre stage on Saturday, August 6th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, August 7th at 2:30 pm. Directed and choreographed by Camryn Zelinger and musically directed by Dawn Doherty, this musical extravanganza will delight audiences of all ages. Horton the Elephant finds himself faced with a double challenge–not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes “his kind and his powerful heart.” Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant in a story that makes you laugh and cry.
Seussical Junior is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
