Local readers could help make history Oct. 6

The city of Aliso Viejo and Aliso Viejo Library on Oct. 6 are participating in a national effort to break the world record for the most number of children reading the same story on the same day.

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, allows people nationwide to demand that all children receive the quality early education they deserve. This year, the group hopes to set a new record with more than 2 million people reading “Llama Llama Red Pajama” by Anna Dewdney.

Families are invited to enjoy an afternoon of snacks, crafts and reading at the Aliso Viejo Library at 1 Journey beginning at 3:30 p.m. The fun continues at the city’s Iglesia Park Community Center at 7 p.m. The community center is located at 24671 Via Iglesia.
