Green Wave Teapot by Fred Stodder
Bob Rickerson, Gallery Director of The Saddleback College Art Gallery is pleased to present Clay Today: A Re-Visit, curated by Scott Young, November 2nd through November 23, 2011. In 1995, the Saddleback College Art Gallery presented “Clay Today: Contemporary Orange County Ceramics” that featured the ceramic works of 14 professional ceramic artists and educators who resided in Orange County. Artists Patrick Crabb, Monica Dunham and Fred Stodder were some familiar names among the 14 invited artists. They all have been invited back in Clay Today: A Re-Visit. After 16 years, who has returned? Have their work and philosophy changed? Have they retired and are no longer creating work, or have they moved away, no longer residing or teaching in our community? Visit this exhibition and find out the answers to these questions. You won’t be disappointed. Because some of the original artists are no longer active in the community, other talented ceramic artists have been invited to complement those returning. New invitees include: Marlo Bartels, Bill Henke, Susan Elizalde-Holder, Kevin Myers, Susie Rubenstein and Karen Thayer.
Gallery hours are Monday – Wednesday from noon-4 pm; Thursday evenings 4-8 pm. An artists’ reception will be held Tuesday, November 1st from 6-9 pm. Admission is free. The gallery will also be open Saturday, November 5th from 10 am to 2 pm.
