The final accounting has been completed! The Run-A-Ways campers club of Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge No. 2444 (“Elks Lodge Campers”) helped raise over $21,000 for handicapped kids at the 43rd annual Southern California Elks Rally held October 6-9, 2011 at the Golden Village Palms RV Resort, Hemet, CA. The Elks Lodge Campers were one of many Southern California Elks Lodge Campers clubs that attended this annual event.

The crafts and games booths were held in the resorts air-conditioned clubhouse with much of the social activity taking place at the park’s beautiful poolside patio. There were raffle prizes for the Elks attendees but the big winners of the event were the handicapped kids. This RV rally set a per capita fund raising record. All Elk RV attendees agreed that the weekend was one of the most enjoyable campouts of the year.

Many of the campers from the Mission Viejo Elks Lodge thought that this year’s Rally was well run with better facilities, great food and more enjoyable entertainment than in past years. Wagon Master Pat Martino said of the event, “The Elks Rally management team also did a great job of trimming expenses, which netted more money for the handicapped kid’s charity”. The consensus of the 270 Elk RV attendees was that all would return and that next year’s ELKS RV Rally will be even bigger and better. The 2012 event will be held on Oct. 11 – 13.

The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Elks Lodge No. 2444, celebrating forty one (41) years of service to the Saddleback Valley communities, is one of ten lodges in the Orange Coast District of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) whose headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. The BPOE is a charitable organization with a 143 year history of giving, “Elks Care, Elks Share.”
