Holiday gifts sought for Aliso Viejo youth who made homework a priority |
|
The Aliso Viejo Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley is seeking donations of gifts for more than 100 families for its annual Operation Holiday Homework program, which takes place Dec. 10 at Fluor Enterprises, 3 Polaris Way. Operation Holiday Homework is an incentive-based program with emphasis on academic enrichment. Children earn points during a comprehensive homework and educational tutoring program that are later redeemed to “purchase” holiday gifts for family members. “It amazes me when you see children shopping for their parents and siblings as opposed to themselves,” said Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley Executive Director James Littlejohn. “Through Operation Holiday Homework, they’re able to get this opportunity when otherwise they couldn’t afford it. We are thankful to Fluor Enterprises for hosting this event for the second year.” Donations of new, unwrapped toys and gifts from residents, businesses, groups and others can be dropped off through Dec. 8 at Fluor Enterprises; the Aliso Viejo Club at 24671 Via Iglesia; or at Aliso Viejo City Hall located at 12 Journey. For more information about donating gifts to the Aliso Viejo Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley, contact Nick Martus at 949-699-2552 or nmartus@bgccapo.com.
