Azarian Gymnastics’ Compulsory Girls Sweep State Meet

Azarian Gymnastics’ Compulsory Girls’ Team dominated the competition taking home 1^st place team awards in levels 4, 5, and 6. The 2011 State Championship Meet was held November 18-20 in San Diego. The girls captured ten 1^st place all-around individual titles and 30 individual 1^st place medals.

The Level 6 girls had strong performances from the entire team. Alexa Rivera placed 1^st all-around and 1^st on bars and 2^nd on floor; Sarah Clark placed 1^st all-around and 1^st on vault, beam, and floor and 3^rd on bars; Kaylene Iriye placed 1^st all-around and 1^st on bars and 2^nd on beam ad floor; Darien Moses placed 1^st all-around and 1^st on bars, 2^nd on beam, and 3^rd on vault; Kenzington Martin placed 3^rd all-around and 3^rd on vault; Courtney Tsunoda placed 3^rd all-around and 2^nd on bars and 3^rd on beam; Peyton Bailey placed 1^st on bars and floor; Laney Berger placed 2^nd on bars; and Ashton Woodbury placed 2^nd on vault.

This win marks the third consecutive 1^st place team award for The Level 5 girls at State. The Level 5 team also won 2^nd place in the “Mini Team” awards for girls 9 and under. Individual results include: Nicole Tumanyan 1^st place all-around, vault, bars, and floor and 2^nd place on beam; Ellie Bagley 1^st place all-around and vault and 2^nd on bars; Brooke Snow 1^st place all-around, bars, and floor and 2^nd place beam and vault; Isabella Gorlick 1^st place all-around and vault and 2^nd on beam; Emily Ho 2^nd place all-around and 1^st place on bars and floor; Giana Costa 2^nd all-around and floor and 1^st on bars; Avery Austin 2^nd place all-around and bars and 1^st place on beam and floor; Caroline Herry 2^nd place all-around, beam, and floor and 3^rd on vault; Morgan Baciu 2^nd place all-around and 3^rd on beam and floor; Natasha Garces-Saldan 1^st on beam and 3^rd on floor; Jessica Deutsch 1^st on floor and 3^rd on beam; Kylie Sharron 3^rd all-around and vault and 1^st on bars and 2^nd on floor; Madison Browning 2^nd on beam and floor; and Elinor Bozarth 2^nd on vault.

Azarian’s Level 4 Team had fantastic results: Katie Clinton placed 1^st all-around, 1^st on beam, 2^nd on bars, and 3^rd on vault; Kimberly Smith 2^nd all-around and beam, 1^st on floor and bars; Katelyn Eichenbaum 3^rd all-around and 2^nd on vault; Emily Karay 2^nd on vault and beam; Abby Karay 1^st on beam; Maquire Garcia 3^rd on bars; Caitlyn Tse 2^nd on floor; Kiana Rees 2^nd on vault; and Sydney Tanner 2^nd on beam.

The Azarian Team Girls are coached by Perry Davies, Vanessa Gonzalez, Ivan Nguyen, Erika Purtell, Krassi Varbanova, and Brice Myers.
