Enjoy over 25 years of Festival of the Arts history with a retrospective of annual posters now on display at the downtown Laguna Beach Wells Fargo. This exhibit runs through January 31st, 2012 and features many of the iconic images highlighting the Pageant of the Masters and Festival of the Arts in Laguna Beach.
“The Festival Of Arts Exhibit is a visual look at the history of our organization, but also that of Laguna Beach,” commented Exhibit Curator Pat Sparkuhl. Posters displayed at Wells Fargo include the 2001 poster “Crystal Cove Cottages” by Michael Obermeyer, 2005 Festival of Arts poster by Mark Jacobucci called “Rockpile, Laguna Beach,” the 2006 poster “Casa La Vita” by Caroline Zimmermann, and the 2009 Festival poster “Crystal Cove Surf” by Todd Kenyon.
In addition, on display are items sold in the gift shop during Festival season and on the website year-round. Many of the Festival of Arts posters and souvenirs may also be purchased online at http://www.FOAgiftshop.com. An online winter sale with all merchandise at 40% off runs from November 1st through December 31st, 2011. “This sale is a great opportunity to pick up affordable, collectible and artful gifts for your friends and family,” says Marketing Director Sharbie Higuchi. “Or perhaps even a shirt or poster for yourself!” For more information about the Festival’s online store call 949-464-4203.

CAN YOU STAND STILL? PAGEANT OF THE MASTERS CASTING CALL 2012
Do you enjoy art, theater and music? Have you ever thought about posing on a stage? Do you enjoy being in the spotlight? And can you stand still for 90 seconds? Perfect – you could be a volunteer cast-member in the 2012 Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. The Pageant of the Masters is looking for men, women and children to volunteer for next summer’s show, The Genius. People of all sizes and ages are needed to be cast members in the world’s most famous presentation of tableaux vivants or “living pictures.”
Casting call will be held at the following times: Saturday, January 7 from 7pm–9pm, Sunday, January 8 from 2pm–5pm and Thursday, January 12 from
7pm–9pm at Irvine Bowl Park (650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, CA). Next summer’s performances will run nightly at 8:30pm from July 7 to August 31, 2012. Please call (949) 494-3663 for additional information.
Casting call is a fun experience for all involved. Prospective volunteers will be measured and photographed, enjoy refreshments and meet the behind-the-scenes Pageant staff. No theater experience is necessary. The only requirement is the ability to stand still and have fun.
Pageant director Diane Challis Davy commented, “It takes over 500 volunteers, both onstage and behind-the-scenes, to put on the Pageant. We wouldn’t have a show without our volunteers! They have so much fun backstage, volunteers return year after year to participate.”
Pageant volunteers are also needed for positions in the wardrobe, make up, and headdress departments, as well as cast area coordinators and refreshment servers, among other positions.
Volunteering for the Pageant is a great way to spend your summer and it is common to have several generations of the same family volunteering for different aspects of the show. By volunteering for the Pageant, students can earn credit towards community service requirements.
The 2012 Pageant of the Masters, The Genius, will be staged July 7 through August 31. Ticket prices start at $15. Tickets are on sale now by calling 1-800-487-3378 or online at www.PageantTickets.com. The Festival of Arts is a nonprofit organization whose proceeds go to support the arts.
