Now taking applications for Youth Leadership at Corpus Christi: Youth Leadership is an opportunity at Corpus Christi for teens to gain leadership experience through training, mentoring, and experience. Our task in HAVEN is to help teens grasp and enhance their gifts in leadership so as to be effective servant leaders in their church community. Youth Leadership does take time and commitment but the rewards are endless. Applications are available in the office or online. For more information please email vininunez@corpuschristialisoviejo.org.
Youth Leadership SUMMER Sponsorships now being accepted…
Corpus Christi is blessed with a great treasure in our parish youth that seek (and are accepted) to become Youth Leaders. The result of an evolving process of initial preparation and then ongoing training, our Youth Leaders are the ones you most frequently see serving at La Cena, selling food in our Food Booths, helping out at JAMs and HAVEN events and assisting with Faith Formation gatherings. They are, in a word, simply incredible. This year, our new Youth Ministry Coordinator, Mr. Vini Nunez is developing a revised multi-tract approach of training and prep that will offer both specific opportunities for those NEW to Youth Leadership and more advanced experiences for those choosing to return and continue as Youth Leaders. Thus, this summer’s Youth Leadership Experience is not a single Retreat/Summit but a series of experiences starting with all our Youth Leaders participating with the ‘Azusa Pacific University- Student Leadership Conference’ (where they will have the opportunity to interact with youth-leaders from other faiths and from all over the Western US) in early July followed by further team/leadership development tracts throughout the summer for the varied Leadership Levels of our Youth Leaders. With transportation, tuition, room and board and assorted food costs for both the Conference and follow-up events factored in, this Summer’s Youth Leadership Development will cost $500 per youth….and we are now accepting Sponsorship/Partial Sponsorship donations to help offset the cost for each of our projected 36 youth who will be accepted into this year’s Leadership training. In the past, your generosity has TREMENDOUSLY reduced the final cost for which each youth is individually responsible and I hope we can again count on your kindness and support. If you wish to make a Sponsorship donation to support this year’s Youth Leadership efforts, please send your Sponsorship (via the weekly Stewardship/Offertory collection or via US Mail) to Fr. Fred or give me a call (389-9011) to discuss putting it on your VISA/MasterCard or AMEX. Thank you, as always, for your love and care of our youth…the Church of today AND tomorrow. FKB

Are you presently CIVILLY married but have never had your marriage blessed by the Catholic Church? Then perhaps our Late-Spring Marriage Blessing Event on FRIDAY, JUNE 1st at 6:30pm is for you!? In order to participate, the following requirements need to be understood:
1. Both persons have NEVER been married before (this is a first marriage for both) and at least one spouse needs to be Roman Catholic.
2. If one or both persons have been married previously (in any manner or capacity) the prior marriage(s) need to have ALREADY been annulled by the Roman Catholic Church (or the previous spouse is deceased.)
3. The couple needs to be already REGISTERED and participating within Corpus Christi as of February 1st, 2012. (Sorry, this is not available for extended family or friends who are not already REGISTERED Corpus Christi parishioners.)
4. BOTH spouses (no exceptions) need to attend a preparation meeting on Sunday, April 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Grand Hall. This is an adult-only meeting, please arrange to leave all infants, toddlers and children with sitters. Sorry, there are no ‘make-up’ meetings for sickness or unplanned conflicts.
All necessary paperwork will be explained at the April 22nd meeting, no documents need to be brought with you at that time. Please call our Front Office Receptionist, Susie Hays, at 389-9008 to confirm your eligibility and RSVP.
Adult Confirmation for those ALREADY 18 and ALREADY Registered at Corpus Christi…
Are you an Adult (over 18) who is a Baptized Catholic and who has received your First Reconciliation and First
Eucharist…BUT….have never received the Sacrament of CONFIRMATION? Well, PENTECOST Weekend is coming (the 5:00pm Mass on MAY 26th to be exact), and on that occasion, Bishop Tod authorizes pastors to offer the Sacrament of Confirmation to ADULTS who are our own parishioners. So, if you are presently an ADULT, 18+, REGISTERED here in Corpus Christi (sorry, no outside family or friends who are not already registered and participating here at Corpus Christi) as of February 1, 2012, and would like to be CONFIRMED on Saturday, May 26th …please contact Susan Hays at 389-9008 for information and to confirm eligibility. (P.S. We will eventually need a copy of your Baptismal Certificate and a copy of Your First Communion Certificate so you may want to start scrounging around for them.) Further information will be provided once your eligibility has been confirmed.
Networking and Employment Transition Support Ministry: Attention all job seekers and career changers…it’s time to pull out those resumes again, dust them off, and spruce them up. A great resume is a thing of beauty. It is your first chance to make a great impression, your own personal marketing piece that must say the most about you in the fewest words, while speaking directly to the job that you are seeking. And though it is not the easiest piece to write, it’s definitely worth spending the time to get it right. NETS is so pleased to welcome Mr. David Etnire and Mr. Dean Calvano to discuss the keys of an effective resume. Mr. Etnire has been a technical writer for over 15 years and possesses proven insight into what a good resume needs in order to target the job you want. Mr. Calvano is an interviewing expert and a seasoned recruiter who knows well what employers are looking for in a resume. Together, in their entertaining and informative presentation, “Easy Steps to Writing a Winning Resume” on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., they will guide you through the essential components of a successful resume. They will show you simple ways to tailor your resume for each job, how to find the right person to send your resume to for the best result, and how to properly follow up with potential employers. Please RSVP by contacting Ed Jordan at ejordan@noletspirits.com or 949-389-1715
Summer traditions keep right on happening….
but take on new and special importance this year….
In the midst of all the parish changes that will be occurring this Summer, it is important to remember that parish life continues…and one of the best ways to reassure yourselves that Corpus Christi is still Corpus Christi is to make plans to attend and enjoy this Summer’s two ‘La Cena’ evenings of food and music. Scheduled for Saturday, July 21st and again on Saturday, August 18th, each evening will commence following the 5:00 p.m. Mass outdoors on our lawn. Pre-paid advance reservations will be required but in a nod to continuing economic uncertainty, the tiered pricing for each evening will be only $25 per adult (15 and up), $15 for children (10-14) and only $10 for wee-ones (2-9), infants under 2 are free. This being a fund-raiser we are of course looking for whatever donations of food, beverage or supplies we can obtain that will cut down on our initial costs. If you know of any generous suppliers of quality sausage, pasta, bread, salad fixings or good vino…please make contact with either Lisa Aguirre (lisa-a@cox.net) or Georgina Yacap (gyacap@cox.net.) With pastoral transitions having just occurred, these ‘La Cena’s’ will be a wonderful opportunity to not only meet and experience Corpus Christi’s new Pastor (and perhaps a new Parochial Vicar…keep your fingers crossed) but also demonstrate to him (them) who we are! Make sure you get the dates on your calendar.
We are again grateful for the generosity of Modern Tree Service who again responded to our call for palm fronds for all our Palm Sunday needs. They not only offer them to us free of charge, they call back to make sure we have enough. With Spring gardening chores upon us, if you find yourself in need of any trimming or tree repairs, please consider giving a call to Jim Klinger at Modern Tree Service at 494-7273. Let them know that Corpus Christi recommended you.
Retrouvaille helps couples through difficult times in their marriages. It is designed to provide tools to help get your marriage back on track. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated a potted lily or other plant for our Easter celebrations. With your help, our Grand Hall is a-bloom with color!!!
HAPPY EASTER!!!
Easter and Holy Week would not have been what we have come to expect without the gracious participation of our Music Ministry, under the direction of Mr. Paul Nguyen. Thank you to each and every participant for sharing from your heart and talents! You made us smile, you helped us to cry and most of all you helped us worship most beautifully. THANK YOU!!
