Ocean Institute Hosts Electronics Recycling Event

DANA POINT, Calif. – The Ocean Institute will be hosting a free electronics recycling event on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Institute will be collecting a wide range of obsolete electronic equipment, including:

  • Desktop and laptop computers (PC & Apple), servers (towers and others), PC networking system or devices
  • Cells phones, cell phone and USP batteries, iPhones, iPads, iPods (any type or model)
  • Computer monitors (CRT), LCD & LED monitors, televisions, plasma TVs, LCD TVs and remote controls
  • Telephones (wireless and wired), answering machines, adapters, external memory hard drive (laptops and/or PC), cable boxes, calculators, cameras, MP3s, CD players, modems, routers, DVD players, VCRs, receivers/amplifiers, radios, game systems, A/V systems, microwaves, printers, fax machines, keyboards, mouse, speakers, flash memory, stereos, small electrical motors and any type of wire.

We accept any small electronics that can be plugged into a wall outlet or work with batteries.  No Alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, 9V), house wares, bottles, cans or boxes.

Founded in 1977, the Ocean Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to ocean preservation through education, setting the standard for educational excellence and serving as a leading resource for universities, museums, teachers and all others seeking to increase their knowledge of the ocean.  The Ocean Institute is open to the general public on weekends, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Cost:  $6.50 adults, $4.50 children (ages 4-12), Ocean Institute members free.  Unique maritime and ocean-themed items are available in the Chambers Gallery everyday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Institute address: 24200 Dana Point Harbor Dr., Dana Point.  Website: www.ocean-institute.org.  Phone number: (949) 496-2274.
