Date:

News From The City Of Aliso Viejo

In an effort to encourage healthy lifestyles and in honor of National Exercise Month, the city is joining forces with a local fitness company –   R.I.P.P.E.D. –  to host a Family Fit Day for kids on Saturday, May 12 at the Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center.

The event is from 9 a.m. to noon at the city facility located at 29 Santa Barbara.

Families and individuals are invited to meet local health and fitness-minded vendors for an activity-packed and fun morning that will feature karate expert Master Steve Ross and special guest Milo Levell. Milo is responsible for taking hip hop dance from the streets to a whole new level by fusing it with fitness and making it a unique sensation. The first 100 kids between the ages of 7-12 at the event will receive a free “Fit & Healthy” goodie bag.

Applicants sought for positions at the Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center

The Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center is now accepting applications for lifeguards for its 2012 season, which kicks off Saturday, May 5.

Roughly two dozen lifeguard positions – both morning and afternoon shifts – are available along with two cashier positions for the season that will run through September 30. The Aquatic Center is a resort-style complex overlooking the golf course at 29 Santa Barbara. The center features a swim team, swim lessons, after-school swim, lap and recreational swim, private pool parties and numerous activities and events throughout the season. The center boasts a junior Olympic 5-lane lap pool, recreational pool, children’s wading pool, toddler splash pad, adult whirl pool, Oasis Cafe, locker facilities, restrooms, and a patio with an outdoor patio fireplace. A special Open House will take place from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on April 26.

Lifeguard candidates must be at least 18 years of age and should be certified and experienced.  For lifeguards who need to re-certify, the facility can offer such at a discounted rate. The salary range for lifeguards is $10 to $12 per hour.

Folks who are interested can stop by the Aliso Viejo Conference Center, located next door to the Aquatic Center at 31 Santa Barbara, to pick up an application or send their resumes to Aquatics Director David Stack at avaquatics@kempersports.com. For more information, call 949-425-2556.
