The cost is $35.00 per person  and reservations will be taken after mass the weekends of May 19/20 and 26/27.  Last day to reserve your spot is May 30th.   Contact Jackie Kleinhammes at jkleinhammes@cox.net or 949/837-4441 to answer any questions.

From Cathy Allard: thanks to the WHOLE Corpus Christi family for their support of monies and materials, which made Christi Kids so very successful. The 51 children made a real difference this Lent.  Thanks for the opportunity to offer this to our children.

*The Christi Kids made their goal through their recycling project and penny harvest, sharing their piggy banks to buy a water buffalo. The water buffalo was purchased and given to a poor Filipino village. The water buffalo will  provide draft power for planting rice and potatoes.  The water buffalo will provide milk, rich in protein and manure to fertilized fields and to burn as fuel. A great gift!

* The Christi Kids made 37 Flannel Tie Blankets that were given to CHOC, Mission Viejo for new admissions, 3 additional  blankets were given to Corpus Christi Parishioners, Delany Klem, Brooke Dilliplaine, and Susie Hays.

*25 Knitted Caps were made from all the yarn donated, these were given to children undergoing cancer treatments and loosing their hair.

*90 Birthday Bags and 115 Easter Bags were assembled and given to families in need through South County Outreach.

*313 colored drawings were created and mailed off to Camp Pendleton Hospital  “Wounded Soldier’s”.

*Over the six sessions 585 Sack Lunches were made and delivered to Isaiah House in Santa Ana.  That is a lot of peanut butter sandwiches!       God willing…Christi Kids will return for it’s Autumn session on October 15th.   THANK YOU!!!!!

Every now and then one of our parish family members says YES to a ministry calling and then their life circumstances change, requiring them to re-evaluate their previous YES. Thus, Mr. Pat Welch, one of our Pastoral Council Members, upon reflection and prayer, has realized that the demands of work and familial responsibilities prevent him from being fully available to honor the responsibilities of being a participant of the Pastoral Council and has chosen to recuse himself from further involvement. This was not an easy decision for Pat but his heart led him to realize that life had done some 180’s beneath him and he moves on with our gratitude, appreciation and love for the time he was able to commit. Thank you Pat…blessings upon you as you review and revise how you will give of yourself to those who love you and support you.  FKB

So far we have received one sponsorship; now that taxes are paid….can a few more of you help?

Corpus Christi is blessed with a great treasure in our parish youth that seek (and are accepted) to become Youth Leaders. The result of an evolving process of initial preparation and then ongoing training, our Youth Leaders are the ones you most frequently see serving at La Cena, selling food in our Food Booths, helping out at JAMs and HAVEN events and assisting with Faith Formation gatherings. They are, in a word, simply incredible. This year, our new Youth Ministry Coordinator, Mr. Vini Nunez is developing a revised multi-tract approach of training and prep that will offer both specific opportunities for those NEW to Youth Leadership and more advanced experiences for those choosing to return and continue as Youth Leaders. Thus, this summer’s Youth Leadership Experience is not a single Retreat/Summit  but a series of experiences starting with all our Youth Leaders participating with the ‘Azusa Pacific University- Student Leadership Conference’ (where they will have the opportunity to interact with youth-leaders from other faiths and from all over the Western US) in early July followed by further team/leadership development tracts throughout the summer for the varied Leadership Levels of our Youth Leaders. With transportation, tuition, room and board and assorted food costs for both the Conference and follow-up events factored in, this Summer’s Youth Leadership Development will cost $500 per youth….and we are now accepting Sponsorship/Partial Sponsorship donations to help offset the cost for each of our 34 youth who are being interviewed for this year’s Leadership training. In the past, your generosity has TREMENDOUSLY reduced the final cost for which each youth is individually responsible and I hope we can  again count on your kindness and support. If you wish to make a Sponsorship donation to support this year’s Youth Leadership efforts, please send your Sponsorship  (via the weekly Stewardship/Offertory collection or via US Mail) to Fr. Fred or give me a call (389-9011) to discuss putting it on your VISA/MasterCard or AMEX. Thank you, as always, for your love and care of our youth…the Church of today AND tomorrow.  FKB

Our thanks and appreciation are extended to our Facilities Manager,  Mr. Marc Jordan, for his design and construction of our NEW wooden pergola that replaces the one that rusted away and finally blew down back in December. Well done Marc!

Summer traditions keep right on happening….

but take on new and special importance this year….

In the midst of all the parish changes that will be occurring this Summer, it is important to remember that parish life continues…and one of the best ways to reassure yourselves that Corpus Christi is still Corpus Christi is to make plans to attend and enjoy this Summer’s two ‘La Cena’ evenings of food and music. Scheduled for  Saturday, July 21st and again on Saturday, August 18th, each evening will commence following the 5:00 p.m. Mass  outdoors on our lawn. Pre-paid advance reservations will be required but in a nod to continuing economic uncertainty, the tiered pricing for each evening will be only $25 per adult (15 and up), $15 for children (10-14) and only $10 for wee-ones (2-9),  infants under 2 are free.  This being a fund-raiser we are of course looking for whatever donations of food, beverage or supplies we can obtain that will cut down on our initial costs. If you know of any generous suppliers of quality sausage, pasta, bread, salad fixings or good vino…please make contact with either Lisa Aguirre (lisa-a@cox.net) or Georgina Yacap (gyacap@cox.net.) With pastoral transitions having just occurred, these ‘La Cena’s’ will be a wonderful opportunity to not only meet and experience Corpus Christi’s new Pastor (and perhaps a new Parochial Vicar…keep your fingers crossed) but also demonstrate to him (them) who we are! Make sure you get the dates on your calendar.

Giving in this way takes an hour or so a week making a human connection that means so much to Hospice Patients and their families. Free training is provided in your area. Transition news…

Just to keep everyone on the same ‘transition page’, while we have nothing new to report regarding where FKB is going or who is coming here, the weekend of June 30-July 1st will be the occasion of final FKB-Masses. On Saturday, June 30th there will be the usual 5:00pm Mass for those who do not like crowds or outdoor events and then on Sunday morning, July 1st, we will celebrate ONE SINGLE Mass at 9:00am, outdoors on the lawn, followed by continued music along with a lovely reception prepared by our own Chef Bill Barber. There will NOT be an 8, 10 or 12 Noon Mass that day, just one Mass at 9am. Parking will be available on the street and elsewhere, so plan accordingly. Next weekend’s Bulletin will have the names and contact info of those overseeing the food prep, set-up/take-down, etc.,  lots of volunteers will be needed to help everything flow smoothly. More updates to follow….but at least you can get it on your calendar. Thanks.  FKB

With Pentecost falling on the Memorial Day Weekend, this year we are ‘relocating’ our annual Ministry Fair to the prior weekend, May 19-20. All of our ministries, organizations and outreaches will have booths and personnel available following all the Masses that weekend for your perusal and consideration. Corpus Christi has thrived over the years because of the investment of time, talent and energy of SO MANY individuals who contribute to the life of our community. If you have been waiting for an opportunity to figure out how best to become involved… the Ministry Fair is  the best and easiest  path to become more involved!!!
