Aliso Viejo Mayor Don Garcia, in partnership with Renaissance ClubSport Hotel, will officially welcome the Mayor of the city of Viterbo in Italy and an entourage of dignitaries and performers on Thursday, May 31 who are in town for the first annual Italian Opera at Soka University. The Italian dignitaries have been staying at the Renaissance ClubSport Hotel since May 23 along with performers from the Italian Opera Festival. The Tuscia Operafestival, now in its sixth season in the historic papal city of Viterbo, is making its Californian debut on Wednesday, May 30 at the Soka University Performing Arts Center located in Aliso Viejo. There are a host of special events during the week in honor of the foreign dignitary visit by the Italian Opera, which includes the meeting of the two mayors. Mayor Garcia, members of the City Council and representatives from the Renaissance ClubSport Hotel will be on hand to officially welcome Mayor Giulio Marini of Viterbo; Italian Opera Festival Maestro Stefano Vignati; Councelor of the Culture Department of Viterbo Enrico Maria Contardo; Councelor of the Training Project of the Province of Viterbo Paolo Bianchini; and President of the ConfCommercio of Viterbo Mauro Barlozzini. Television broadcasters from three of Italy’s national television stations (Rai 1 – Canale 5 – Rai 3) will also be on hand for the festivities. The city of Aliso Viejo is honored to welcome this prestigious group to this beautiful South County community to share in this exciting and first-ever cultural exchange and musical celebration.
