The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge (“Elks Lodge”) held and hosted an Orange Coast District (“OCD”) Motorcycle poker run to raise funds for Wounded Warriors.
After registration and payment of the $35 entry fee at the Elks Lodge, the twenty-four (24) riders and two passengers rode to and stopped to pick a playing card at the “Cook’s Corner Restaurant”, Orange Elks Lodge, Santa Ana Elks Lodge and the Garden Grove Elks Lodge before returning to the Mission Viejo Elks Lodge. The best poker hand created from the cards picked up at the five stops was held by Wesley Rumsey of the Calvary Riders (CMA Chapter 66). At the Mission Viejo Elks Lodge, the riders, event volunteers, Elks Members and their guests were treated to a barbeque, raffle and music by the band “Vehicle.”
Shari Scott, event organizer and Mission Viejo Elks Lodge Veterans Chairperson said, “We must embrace the fighting men and women who come home with physical and psychological challenges that in some cases exceed those encountered in combat. We are grateful that we were able to generate over $1,000 from entry fees, sale of t-shirts, food and other donations that will go to help our Wounded Warriors. At a later date, I will invite the Camp Pendleton Wounded Warriors to our Lodge for presentation of our check”
