“THREE PRINTMAKERS” EXHIBIT NOW AT FOASOUTH
Featuring the Work of Three Festival of Arts Exhibitors with International Roots
Now Until December 15, 2012
LAGUNA BEACH, CA – This fall, explore the art of Printmaking at foaSOUTH’s newest show “Three Printmakers” featuring Festival of Arts exhibitors Dirk Hagner, Mariko Ishii, and Vinita Voogd. Now on display until December 15, 2012, the exhibit showcases their current work juxtaposed with their prints from the Festival of Arts Permanent Art collection.
Printmaking is the art of transferring impressions, patterns, textures, and shapes from one object onto the surface of another. Represented in the exhibit are a variety of processes, including intaglio, collagraph with chine colle’, woodblock, digital and reductive plate. Each process is typically a complex one, using a variety of different techniques and mediums, depending on the type of print. Artists can create different surface textures, color effects and forms, just as in a painting, producing a unique work of art, defined by the artist’s style and personality.
“I am delighted to be in the show with the other two printmakers from the Festival’s permanent collection,” said Vinita Voogd. “Although we were born and raised in different countries, namely; Japan, Germany and India each one of us spent our adult lives maturing as artists/printmakers here in California. We each have a completely different approach to printmaking even though we’re working in the same medium.”
