Chamber Music Concert with
the American Piano Trio

 

Mission Viejo, CA – Reflections of the Ocean Classical Keyboard Series at Saddleback College, Department of Music, is pleased to present the American Piano Trio in concert on Monday, November 19th at 7 pm in the McKinney Theatre. The trio is made up of three outstanding international touring and recording artists.

Anna Vayman is an Associate Professor of Violin at Ball State University and a member of the American Piano Trio. A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, she has been a soloist with many orchestras in Russia and the U.S. including solo performances under the baton of Valery Gergiev, Yury Temirkanov and Gianandrea Noseda. As the violinist of the American Piano Trio Anna Vayman’s performances include appearances across the Midwest, the Fleisher Art Memorial Hall and Villanova University Chamber Series in Philadelphia, Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan and multi-city tours of leading music institutions and concert venues in Russia, Belorussia, England, Germany and South Korea.

Pianist Robert Palmer’s career spans three continents, with solo, orchestral and chamber music appearances throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Following his critically-acclaimed Carnegie Hall debut in 1979, Palmer embarked upon a performing career that brought his artistry to many of the major concert halls of this country and abroad. His performances have been broadcast on National Public Radio and public television in the United States as well as in China, Japan, Korea, Spain and Taiwan. Palmer has been presented in recital by Community Concerts, a subsidiary of Columbia Artists, and he continues to perform regularly throughout the United States.

Dr. Peter Opie is Assistant Professor of cello at Ball State University and cellist of the American Piano Trio. He has performed widely as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Recent concerto performances include with the Daegu Melos Ensemble in Korea, and the Provintsia Chamber Orchestra in Russia. This season he will be appearing with the Muncie Symphony, Marion Philharmonic, and Lake Charles Symphony in concertos by Haydn, Brahms, and Beethoven. With the American Piano Trio he has performed at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, Oxford University, Yonsei University, Canterbury Christ Church University, Anglia Ruskin University, the Great Philharmonic Hall in Minsk, Chunma Arts Center in Daegu, and in Russia.

Tickets are $12 general; $7 seniors; $5 students; 17 and under FREE with paying adult; teachers with MTAC/CAPT contact the box office to receive complimentary tickets for your students or guest. Saddleback College is located at 28000 Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo, just east of Interstate 5 at the Avery Parkway exit. Free parking is available in Lot 12. Take Avery Parkway to Marguerite Parkway turn left to the third traffic light, which is Saddleback’s Marguerite entrance. Turn right into the campus and take the second left to Theatre Circle, turning right into Lot 12.

The nationally recognized faculty is dedicated to performance and to teaching in all areas such as vocal, instrumental, jazz, guitar and piano. Other music classes include harmony, musicianship, composition, history and appreciation of western art music, rock, jazz and world.
