December 2012
SHOP WITH A COP: More than 300 under-served children will enjoy breakfast and a private show at SeaWorld San Diego before embarking on a $100 holiday shopping spree at Target. It’s all part of this year’s Shop With a Cop, sponsored by local law enforcement agencies, SeaWorld, STAR/PAL and Target, on Saturday, Dec. 1. After enjoying breakfast and the “Christmas Tails” show at SeaWorld, the children will ride with their assigned police officers in patrol cars, with lights flashing and sirens blaring, from the marine-life park’s parking lot to Target where they “shop with a cop” for holiday gifts for themselves and family members. In its 19th year, Shop With a Cop provides not only holiday gifts for less fortunate families, but also a positive interaction with local law enforcement officers. SeaWorld has participated in Shop With a Cop for 15 years.
POINSETTIA BOWL AND HOLIDAY BOWL TEAM DAYS: Teams participating in San Diego’s Poinsettia Bowl and Holiday Bowl will get in a festive mood before their college football bowl games at Qualcomm Stadium by spending Team Days at SeaWorld. Players, coaches and staff from one of the Poinsettia Bowl-bound teams will visit SeaWorld on Monday, Dec. 17, while both Holiday Bowl teams will enjoy a day of fun animal adventures at the park on Tuesday, Dec. 25. For photo and interview opportunities, call SeaWorld Public Relations at (619) 226-3929.
SEAWORLD’S CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION: With special holiday-themed animal shows, real snow, reindeer, festive décor and more, SeaWorld is the place to be this Christmas season. Mrs. Claus is joining the festivities this year, greeting children at Santa’s Cottage, located at a magical Christmas wonderland on the lawn near Seaport Marketplace. SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration continues Dec. 1–2; Dec. 8–9; Dec. 15–16; Dec. 22 through Jan. 5. All holiday festivities are included with park admission.
SNOWWORLD: A winter wonderland of snowmen, snowballs and family fun awaits at SeaWorld’s Arctic Plaza! The expanded play area at SnowWorld features more than 6,500 square feet of fresh snow each day and impromptu visits with SeaWorld’s arctic foxes, adding to the wintery atmosphere. The very popular sled runs are back again this year, with three hills for sledding, plus the debut of a new snowball target area. SnowWorld is open Dec. 1–Jan. 5.
