Valentine’s Day Champagne Whale Watching Cruise

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

Join us for a unique and romantic way to celebrate Valentine’s Day! You’ll sail aboard the 95′ Dana Pride at sunset as we search for whales, dolphin and other marine life set against the beautiful Orange County coastline. Chocolates and Valentine’s Day treats are included! Enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail from our cash bar as well! Be sure to make reservations at one of Dana Point Harbor’s many romantic restaurants for after the cruise and you’ll have an unforgettable evening!

Wyland Art Lessons in the Wild

Learn from one of the masters of marine art by joining us for a dockside presentation and art lesson, via video feed, by renowned environmental artist, Wyland! Guests will learn how Wyland has created some of the most well known marine wildlife paintings and sculptures of our era. Children can enter their art in an end-of-season contest for the most accurate portrayal of marine mammals to be judged by Wyland. The winning child and family will receive a Whale Watching trip accompanied by Wyland aboard the Ocean Adventure. Other prizes will be announced soon! The price for the art lesson is $5 per child, with all proceeds going to the Wyland Foundation. The mission of Wyland’s foundation is to give both children and adults alike, the tools they need to become more creative, positive and solution oriented through art. Whale watching excursions are available at an additional cost and will be departing Dana Wharf every hour on the hour during the Festival of Whales.

Orange County Wine Cruise

Join us for a 90-minute evening cruise aboard our luxury catamaran through the beautifully lit up Dana Point Harbor. This cruise will feature a sampling of wines from The Organic Cellar which promotes organically grown and pesticide-free wines as well as a sample platter of cheese, crackers, fruits and nuts that compliment the wines. The 63′ Ocean Adventure catamaran also features a full cash bar if you’d like to purchase some additional beverages. Sit back, relax and enjoy the lights of beautiful and charming Dana Point Harbor This cruise includes:

~ 4 tastes of wine from The Organic Cellar, featuring wines by Wyland, which is a winery that infuses great tastes, health, and fine living. Join us in making our lives a little healthier and a whole lot more delicious.

2-Hour Whale Watching Cruises
These cruises depart every hour on the hour between 8am – 4pm!
Catamaran cruises depart 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm

Join us aboard these 2-hour whale watching cruises every hour on the hour! As you view the Gray Whales on their migratory path, our friendly, fun and knowledgable captains will provide you with tons of information about these gentle giants. You’ll have the chance to see dolphin and sea lions! Dana Wharf proudly offers a guarantee that if you don’t have a good showing of whales or dolphin, you’ll receive a “whale check”. You can use your “whale check” ticket ANYTIME in the future to join us on another trip for free!

During Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching’s special marine mammal lecture series, scheduled during the Festival of Whales, you are invited to come learn some of the latest breaking news in the marine world. Enjoy a continental breakfast at Harpoon Henry’s as marine biologists and special guests present recent findings on local whales, dolphins and other marine mammals. Following the lecture, join us for a whale watching trip aboard the OCean Adventures Catamaran for those that want to get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures.

Free Book Signing and Fun Prizes

Stop by Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching for a FREE book signing of “The Amazing Adventures of Captain Don” by Captain Don himself! The first 100 children (10 years old and under) will not only meet Captain Don, get a signature, but have a picture taken too! Captain Don Hansen, the founder of Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching and the originator of Southern California whale watching invites you to come down and meet him. Buy a second book and get an opportunity to spin the prize wheel and win fun prizes! Proceeds will be donated to the Gray Whale Foundation.

We have seen over 130 Gray Whales this season!
Gray Whale Season is here and will run through the end of April! Each winter, the Pacific Gray Whales pass by Dana Point, many believe that Dana Point is a landmark on their journey. After spending the summer feeding in the food-rich waters of the arctic, the Grays swim south along the coast to the bays of Baja California, where they mate and nurse their young. Along the way they pass Dana Wharf, where you can witness the annual winter journey. We saw 272 Gray Whales last season!

All of our cruises are narrated by our seasoned captains who will educate you on the abundant ocean life on our coast. Trips are all 2 hours long, plenty of time to discover the world that lies beneath! Remember that sightings are guaranteed! If you don’t see A GOOD SHOWING of whales or dolphin, you will get your ticket back and are invited to come out again with us! These “whale checks” never expire.

Halibut Drift Days
These 9-hour trips will specifically drift for halibut on Fridays and Sundays as part of our 4th Annual Halibut Derby! Win cash and prizes in this annual fishing contest!

Free Kid’s Fishing Clinic
Every Sunday
12:00pm – 12:30pm
Join us every Sunday for our free kid’s fishing clinic! Dana Wharf is proud to offer a dockside experience for young anglers! Ask the experts and learn new fishing techniques, new hook tying secrets, win raffle prizes and so much more! No reservations are needed! Try out your new techniques on the 1/2 day trip departing immediately after the clinic!

Kid’s Fish FREE!

Join us every Sunday (right after our Free Kid’s Fishing Clinic) for our 12:45pm 1/2 Day Fishing Trip and kids fish free! One child will get a free 1/2 Day Fishing Trip (a savings of $25) per paying adult! Rental gear is included for the kids too! A savings of $12!
