EventGodspell
Mysterium presents Godspell, one of the biggest hit musicals of all time. Based on the Gospel of Matthew and written by Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked”) and John-Michael Tebelak, “Godspell” features a rock score that includes popular songs like “Light of the World,” “Day by Day” and “Turn Back, O Man” to tell a timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love. The musical places the parables of the gospel in a modern setting, illustrating that the messages are as relevant and powerful today as they were when they were originally told. This multi-cultural cast brings a fresh new look to this touching storytelling musical extravaganza. The dance is drawn from non- traditional techniques from Burning Man ritual along with contemporary movement from choreographer Sonya Randall. Brian Sherick musical directs and creates the tracks for the show having bringing loving sounds to Nunsense, Into the Woods and others. This is director Rovin Jay’s second time at the helm at Mysterium Theater, having guided last year’s beautiful production of Once on this Island. Godspell is a perfect show for the entire family and plays in rep with Dancing at Lughnasa which performs on Thursday Evenings and Saturday and Sunday matinee |
