Mission Viejo, Calif. – Kaleidoscope and the City of Mission Viejo are celebrating art and community together at the Arts Alive Sneak Peek the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, April 20 & 21 beginning at Noon.
This is a way for one of the area’s premier shopping malls, Kaleidoscope located just off the 5 Freeway on Crown Valley Parkway, to help the City of Mission Viejo promote the Arts Alive Festival by engaging the community and inviting people to take part in murals and sculptures that will later be on display at the library, city hall, and community centers.
The event will bring together live musical performances, different styles of arts and crafts displays and a sneak peek at talented master street artists during the two-day event.
This year’s featured artist is Jennifer Main, whose strong passion for painting began at a young age and by the time she was 17 had her work displayed in galleries throughout the country. With a lot of hard work and determination she has since been blessed with 13 exciting years as a successful full-time artist. Her work can be seen in Los Angeles at her own gallery at 617 S. Grand Ave., at Senior Fish restaurant in Little Tokyo as well as at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts and both MJ Christensen Diamonds in her hometown of Las Vegas. Main creates commissioned work for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the American Heart Association. At the Sneak Peek event, Main will be on hand to paint live with art participants and allow the community to paint along with her.
The Sneak Peek weekend will also highlight other artists, professional chalk art, hands-on art projects, art workshops and musical entertainment. One of the City’s group art projects, Bears about Town, will be on hand to give attendees the opportunity to artistically contribute to the City’s art project. Bears about Town will soon inhabit the community along Marguerite Parkway as honored mascots of the Oso Creek Trail. Designed to celebrate the bond between the original and various ethnic groups comprising our community, the nine-bear collection represents a family knitting together the unique and rich cultural heritage and legacy upon which the City of Mission Viejo was founded.
