STAR TESTING IS NEXT WEEK APRIL 29, APRIL 30, AND MAY 1 Your child will be participating in the California’s Standardized Testing and Reporting “STAR” program on Monday, April 29, Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1. You are a vital part of the testing process and can help by:
- Be sure your child is here every day and on time.
- Be sure your child is in bed between 8:00-9:00 p.m. on school nights.
- Be sure your child eats something containing protein before coming to school. (Eggs, yogurt, peanut butter and toast, milk, cheese)
- Be sure your child comes to school with a healthy snack and water.
- Help your child see the test as an opportunity to show what he or she has learned and encouraging your child to do his or her best.
- Scheduling appointments outside of the testing window.
- NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES ALLOWED IN TESTING ROOMS – PLEASE LEAVE KINDLES, NOOKS, ETC. AT HOME!
Parents will receive detailed reports of their child’s results on Parent Portal in early summer and will also be sent to your home in late summer with an explanation of the results.

More than 7 million persons aged 12 and older abused prescription drugs in 2010, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The Partnership at DrugFree.org reports that nearly one in five teens has taken a prescription medication to get high, without having his or her own prescription. In fact, every day 2500 teenagers use a prescription drug to get high for the first time. The majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from friends and relatives, including the home medicine cabinet, according to national studies.
