Welcome to Another Great Year at Newhart- Registration was a huge success, thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make it possible. We appreciate everything our PTA does to support Newhart and registration is definitely one of the biggest jobs. A special thank you to Terrie Butorac for organizing all of our registration and our volunteers. We are all very excited to see all of our amazing students Monday morning. The teachers and staff have been working to ensure everything is ready for the first day of school. Please remember school begins at 8:45. We will see everyone in the morning.
Drop off & Pick up-
Please remember when dropping off and picking up your students from Newhart to follow all posted traffic signs on La Paz and Veterans Way. There are often sheriff officers out giving tickets for those who do not. Also, when entering the Newhart parking lot from Veterans Way please do not block the driveway, follow all one way arrows and stay with the flow of traffic. We want all students and parents to be safe so please be considerate. A map is available on the schools website.

Coffee With The Principal- Please feel free to join me after students have begun their day at approximately 9:15 in our MPR. I look forward to meeting any parents who are available to come at that time.
GIVE WITH TARGET UPDATE – We currently have 132 votes. Carl Hankey is in first place out of MV schools and has 235 votes. Castille is in third with 115. Hot on our heels! Remember, Target is giving away up to $5 million dollars to schools ($10,000 max per school) in a program called “Give with Target.” All you have to do is Vote online, once per week at the following website: https://givewith.target.com/ – choose Newhart as your school to support. Tell your family and friends and everyone on Facebook to vote for Newhart!!!
PIE FUNDRAISER
PTA would like to thank all the families who made donations to Partners in Education (PIE) during registration. Your support of Newhart’s students is greatly appreciated. PIE is PTA’s primary fundraiser of the year and through your generous donations, PIE will fund technology purchases, classroom grants and school loop.
PTA has not yet reached their fundraising goal, so the fundraiser is being extended until Back to School Night on September 19th. If you have not yet donated and would like to do so, you may send in your donation with your student and have them drop it off at the front office. PTA will also accept donations in the library during Back to School Night. All donations, small or large, are greatly appreciated. For every $100 donation, you will be entered into a drawing to win either a Samsung Chromebook or two 1-Day Park Hopper tickets to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. The winners of the opportunity drawing will be drawn at the end of the evening at Back to School Night. Thanks again to all our wonderful Newhart families!
Reflections Contest-
The PTA will be sponsoring the PTA Reflections program again in the fall. The deadline for submittal comes quickly after the school year starts so plan ahead.
The 2013-2014 Theme for PTA Reflections is: Believe, Dream, Inspire
The following are the categories: Dance choreography, Film/Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.
You can enter into the PTA Reflections Program as many times as you like.
