About 650 members of the general community, multiple local faiths, and the Interfaith Council of South Orange Council heard from Ruth Treeson, a World War II Holocaust survivor.
Rev. Sheryl Faulk, President of the Interfaith Council of South Orange County welcomed the audience.
An opening hymn of “Because of I Have Been Given Much”, a specific congregational hymn followed by an invocation from Juliette Chesley, representing the host location at the Laguna Niguel Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The event was hosted at the Aliso Viejo chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon/LDS). Laguna Niguel Stake President Robert Davis, and counselors RIchard Lamprecht and Allen Ostergar were in attendance.

From age 9 to 15 Ms. Treeson experienced persecution under the Hitler regime, serving time as a jewish prisoner at Auschwitz and other Nazi concentration camps.
Mrs. Treeson’s message was entitled “Tales of Hope, Love, Goodness and the Incredible Power of Imagination.”

Mrs. Treeson shared that even the worst of life experiences can have happy outcomes. She arrived in the United States at age 16, met her husband Emil Treeson (who made it possible for her to have a family) together they have 3 sons.
To conclude the event, Cantor Shula Kalir-Merton accompanied on piano by Chris Winn, led the congregation in unison to “Traveler’s Prayer”.
Ruth Treeson has written a book about her life experiences entitled “The Long Walk” which is available online at Amazon.com and other channels. She has also personally recorded her experiences in DVD format and is available directly from her at treesonre@fea.net or by phone (949) 581-6911.
She regularly speaks to book clubs, students, and other organizations upon request.
