Saddleback College competed at the CCCFA State Championships in Concord, California on the week of March 12th-16th.
Over 37 community colleges including Orange Coast College, Moorpark College, and defending National Champion, Mt. San Antonio College.
For the second time in two years, Saddleback College placed fourth overall in the State with some exciting results.
Saddleback College advanced two Reader’s Theatre performances to Finals and was awarded Double Gold Medals.
Directed by Heidi Ochoa, “Infected Memory” with Cecelia Melody, Patrick Leahy, and Daniel Roy received a gold medal, and another gold medal was received for the performance in “Confluence”- with Jordan Kay, Dennis Meador, and Katie Rochefort directed by Coach Lucas Ochoa.
This rare feat was achieved once again by talented students and faculty for Saddleback College.
Lucas Ochoa stated, “I’m amazed that we were able to pull off a Double Gold again and place fourth overall considering how many of our students were new to Forensics. I’m proud to once again see the students succeed in Reader’s Theatre. The tradition of excellence in Reader’s Theatre is becoming a precedence that does Saddleback should be proud. I’m very excited to see how we do at Nationals.”
Shawn O’Rourke: I am very pleased with the team’s showing at state this year. Not only have we demonstrated that we are one of the top community colleges in California, but we’ve shown that we are competitive in all genres of the activity.
