Abu Simbel Temple Egypt with Ramses
Rediscover the grandeur and the mystery that was Ancient Egypt under the Ramesside Dynasty. The American Research Center of Egypt (ARCE) has invited renowned archaeologist Dr. Aiden Dodson to share his latest discoveries during a day-long adventure on Saturday, March 29. The public is invited to attend the event at the Bowers Museum, in the Norma Kershaw Auditorium, 2002 North Main Street, Santa Ana, CA
ARCE is hosting the Ramesside study day from 8:30 AM to 4:00 pm. The focus of the lecture and slide presentation will be the famous personalities of this dynasty: the founder Ramses I, the Pharaoh who built giant statues of himself everywhere, Ramses II, and the one possibly murdered by his harem, Ramses III. Dr. Dodson will also discuss the most current theories surrounding the female Pharaoh Tawosret, and the infamous tomb robberies. Under the guidance of this distinguished scholar and Egyptologist, participants will explore the glory years of Ramesside Egypt, the Decline and Fall of the 19th Dynasty, and famous monuments like Abu Simbel and the Serapeum. The afternoon will end with a discussion of Deir el-Medina and the Ramesside World of the Dead.
Dr. Dodson is currently a Senior Research Fellow, Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, the University of Bristol, UK. He has been affiliated with the Egypt Exploration Society since 1996, and regularly lectures extensively at universities, museums and Egyptological societies in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Egypt, Denmark, Italy and Australia.
