FESTIVAL OF ARTS “SCULPTURES BY MIRIAM SHELTON” EXHIBIT AT WELLS FARGO IN LAGUNA BEACH NOW THROUGH MAY 12
Shelton, a Laguna Beach resident, was a Festival of Arts exhibitor between 1974 and 2006. Now in her late 80’s, she continues to create dynamic new artwork that is thought provoking and captures the essence of the human spirit.
Miriam Shelton graduated from Pomona College in California with a Bachelors degree in art and continued her studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Corcoran Art School in Washington, D.C.
Her numerous exhibit awards include the Laguna Beach Art Association, Madonna Festival of Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Art Festival. Her works are in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, including the Festival of Arts Permanent Collection.
Her stone/marble sculpture, “Seated Girl” was purchased by the Festival in 1992 and has since resided inside Wells Fargo bank at the bottom of their spiral staircase.
“Miriam’s sculpture is a significant part of the Festivals Permanent Art Collection,” commented Exhibit Curator Tim Shockley. “We are honored to have the opportunity to share her award-winning work with the public.”
The exhibit is on the third floor of the Wells Fargo building at 260 Ocean Avenue, Laguna Beach. It is part of an ongoing series of shows that the Festival of Arts will be holding at Wells Fargo. The building is open to the public Monday through Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission is free. The Festival of Arts is a non-profit organization whose proceeds support the arts in and about Laguna Beach. For more information call (949) 494 – 1145 or go to www.LagunaFestivalofArts.org.
