Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate cancer survivorship and raise money for research and programs.

The event kicks off at 9 a.m. on Saturday with a welcome by Senator Mimi Walters, who helped bring the Relay For Life movement to Mission Viejo two decades ago. She served as the first event chair to the then “Saddleback Valley Relay For Life.” She will be followed by the traditional cancer survivors and caregiver lap at 9:30 a.m. All cancer survivors and their caregivers are invited to walk this opening lap. (Registration is not required.)
Live entertainment, bands and team activities and fundraisers will continue throughout the 24-hour event. At nightfall, luminaries will light the field in a moving ceremony to honor cancer survivors and remember those who lost their battle to the disease.
Mission Viejo Relay For Life is one of the oldest and most successful relays in the county, raising more than $160,000 last year alone and collectively more than $2 million in the past 19 years. The community is encouraged to experience all that relay offers and donate to this worthy cause. To register as an individual or to form a team, visit www.relayforlife.org/missionviejoCA.
