The PG-rated film, which airs at 2 p.m., is sponsored by the City’s Community of Character Committee. The movie coincides with August’s character trait of “self-control.”
Rated #4 on the American Film Institute’s list of Best Sports Movies, “Hoosiers” is based on the true story of an Indiana basketball coach who leads and inspires his underdog team to a state championship.
USA Today called the film the “Best Sports Movie of all Time,” and it is listed on the United States National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.”
Character educators Elaine Portnoy and Bob Hayes will lead a brief discussion following the film, which will be shown on a theater-size screen with theater-style seating and surround-sound at 200 Civic Center, just across from the Mission Viejo Library.
