Military Artist Program Kicks Off in August
Free on-base live art demonstrations at Camp Pendleton,
free art supplies and art competitions just for members of the military
Artists don’t have to be good (or even artists!), they just have to be interested. SCAA will help them get where they want to go with free classes and live demonstrations. Sponsored by SCAA, the San Clemente Sunrise Rotary Club, and San Clemente Art Supply, the new program includes presentations on art journaling, setting up a paint palette, bringing doodles to life, and more.
Each military artist will receive art supply kits to get started drawing, free of charge. Other art supplies are being offered by San Clemente Art Supplies at substantial discounts for participating military members. SCAA Membership is also complimentary and includes: Art Show Competition fees; monthly club meetings and art demonstrations by well-known Southern California artists; annual Plein Air Painting Competition fees in Paint San Clemente.
A highlight of the MAP is the Military Only Art Show and Competition with cash prizes awarded to the winners. It will take place at the San Clemente Art association Gallery at a date and time to be determined.
The Art Association was founded in 1953 by artist, Lilian Finlay to appreciate all facets of arts and crafts and establish and support an eclectic Art Community in San Clemente. Now with over 350 members and eight Art Shows each year the Association continues to grow and reach out to the local artists and community in meaningful and creative ways.
