ELKS IN FULL STRIDE OF GIVING FOR THE HOLIDAYS
They are from Mission Viejo Sven Akesson, Angela Hamel, Jessica Jensen, Glen Meredith, Michael Stefanik, and Gary Stewart. New Elks from Laguna Hills, Robert Herrmann, Rick Meumann, and Larry Vaughn. Mary and James Kovash reside in Trabuco Cyn. Other new members are Ginger Breiner from Laguna Niguel, and Lake Forest residents James Maloney, and Paula Pangle, Garreth Brown from Aliso Viejo, Clay Currie of Rancho Santa Marguarita, Toby Sanford, and Kacey Igarashi of Coto De Caza, Ronald Goodbrand of Dove Canyon, James Goyne of Irvine, Martyn Mayhead of San Juan Capistrano, Earl Pattschull of Anaheim, and Chuck Steinhaus of Yorba Linda.
Lodge President Derek Randles said of the event, “This is a very special group of initiates as it puts our Lodge over our goal of one thousand (1000) members. The added members will surely help us over the holidays as we have a bigger charity workload than ever before.”
Randles referred to events such as our Christmas Party for the developmentally challenged, Bringing Santa and loads of gifts to the Orange County Rescue Mission, Dictionaries to third graders, Visits to the Veterans Hospital, Fund raisers for the Elks Handicapped Children’s charity, and Donations to outreach and food basket charities, to mention just a few.
Randles added, “Many of our new members told us that they wanted to give something back to the community and to the less fortunate. They said the idea of tackling that job all by oneself was overwhelming to them so they chose joining the Elks as the best way to give back through an organization that specializes in a wide spectrum of charity work.
And they also appreciated the fact that none of the Elks draw one nickel in pay…and that includes the Lodge President.” For information regarding membership in the Mission Viejo, Saddleback Valley Elks call (949) 830-3557.
